Cannas are perennials with large leaves, sometimes coloured bronze or purple, on upright stems and flowers in shades of red, pink and white.

Cannas prefer a fertile, moist but not waterlogged soil in full sun. Rhizomes can be lifted and stored in moist compost over winter.
